Height 13¾" 35cms, Width 8¼" 21cms, Depth 5" 12.5cms. Solid mahogany case. Door veneered with curl mahogany and inlayed with boxwood lines. Movement, Kieninger eight day springwound. Triple chime - Westminster - Whittington - St Michael on eight gongs. Automatic night silence with manual shut off. Side frets, brass with pierced quatrefoil design, lined with silk.

Movement, eight day springwound, strikes the hours and half hours on two polished bells. Side frets, brass with pierced quatrefoil design, lined with silk. * Engine turning is a method of adding ornamentation to metal surfaces. It was first used over two hundred years ago and has since been employed by such famous clockmakers as Breguet, Jump and Frodsham.

Height 12 1/8" 31cms, Width 9" 23cms, Depth 5¼" 13.5cms. Solid mahogany case base and door veneered with curl cross crossbanding. Polished brass dial surround with cast spandrels. Hands bronze, fret sawn and filed by hand. Movement, eight day springwound, 4/4 Westminster chiming on five gongs with manual silencer. With the restoration of Charles II to the throne in 1660, England turned its back on the puritan way of life. An improvement in living standards resulted in a greater demand for clocks. These were often architectural in design to compliment the elegant interiors of the brick and stone buildings that were replacing the old wooden houses.

The bell tops predecessor by some fifty years was the inverted bell top (see our model PA52M) the true bell shape did not appear until about 1740.
